Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for 2011 Announced

The Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for the year 2011 have been announced. A press note to this effect has been issued today by the M/o Labour& Employment. 
Accordingly, 68 workers employed in the Departmental Undertakings & Public Sector Undertakings of the Central and State Governments and Private Sector Units employing 500 or more workers will be awarded in recognition of their distinguished performances, innovative abilities, outstanding contribution in the field of productivity and exhibition of exceptional courage and presence of mind. 

This year, no nomination was found suitable for the presitigious Shram Ratna Award. Six nominations for the Shram Bhushan Award, Thirty Three nominations for Shram Vir/Shram Veerangana and twenty nine nominations for Shram Shree/Shram Devi Awards have been selected. Even though, the total number of Shram Awards is 33, the number of workers receiving the Awards is 68 (Including six women), as some of the Awards have been shared by workers and/or teams of workers consisting of more than one worker. These include 52 workers from the public sector and 16 workers from the private sector. 
SHRAM BHUSHAN 
Total number of Shram Bhushan Awardees are Six. It carries a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000/- and a ‘Sanad’. Six nominations were found suitable for the Shram Bhushan Award for the year 2011 in respect of Public Sector Undertaking, the Shram Bhushan Awards in respect of Public Sector undertakings are given to S/Shri Baikunth Sharma,Ghan Shyam Mandal, Utpal Kumar (Jointly) all from Bokaro Steel Plant, Bokaro. Smt. B.N. Shanthamma from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Bangalore and Shri Biswajit Kar from Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur and Shri Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi from Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur.
SHRAM VIR/VEERANGANA 
Total number of Shram Vir/Shram Veerangana Awardees are thrity three. It carries a cash award of Rs. 60,000/- and a ‘Sanad’. No female worker from Public Sector and Private Sector was found suitable for Shram Veerangana Award. The Shram Vir awardees in respect of Public Sector Undertakings are S/Shri Emol Kumar Tigga, Rabinarayan Das, Tapas Ranjan Sahu, Maheswar Murmu and Krishna Chandra Behera ( Jointly) all from Rourkela Steel Plant, Rourkela and S/Shri Rabindra Kumar Sahoo, Virgil Kullu, Kailash Chandra Patra, Dilip Kumar Sunari and Sujal Kumar Barik ( Jointly) All from Rourkela Steel Plant, Rourkela and /Shri Ashok Kumar Mohapatra, Kalandi Charan Behera, Kushal Chandra Majhi, Jagajoti Padhi, Nakul Mahato, Pramod Kumar Baral, Rabindranath Mohapatra (Jointly) all from Rourkela Steel Plant, Rourkela and S/Shri Sheo Kumar Prasad Singh, Ayodhya Kumar Singh, Jagannath Singh, Satish Chandra Mahto (Jointly) all from Bokaro Steel Plant, Bokaro and S/Shri D. Janardhan Rao, V.S.S. Shridhar, Mahendra Swaroop, Tapan Kumar Nandi and Subir Roy ( Jointly) all from Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai and Shri Bhaktahari Mahapatra from Rourkela Steel Plant, Rourkela and Shri Siddhi Nath Mishra from Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur and Shri Sankar Prasad Neogi from Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur and Shri Apurba Kumar Das from Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur and Shri Rakesh Kumar from Tata Steel Ltd., Jamshedpur and Shri Anant Ganpat Kalekar from Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Mumbai and Shri Rajesh Liladhar Samani from Tata Chemicals Ltd., Mithapur. 
SHRAM SHREE/DEVI 
Total number of Shram Shree/Shram Devi Awardees are twenty nine. It carries a cash award of Rs. 40,000/- and a ‘Sanad’. five female workers from Public sector have been selected for Shram Devi Awards for this year. The Shram Shree/Shram Devi awardees in respect of Public Sector Undertakings are S/Shri Sahadev Badaik, Librius Kerketta, Sukra Bara, Gopabandhu Patel (Jointly) all from Rourkela Steel Plant, Rourkela and Shri Ratnala Vijaya Kumar Chowdhary from Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Visakhapatnam S/Shri Birendra Singh, Damodar Prasad Singh, Harinandan Prasad Sinha (Jointly) all from Bokaro Steel Plant, Bokaro S/Shri Sanjay Kumar, Rajendra Prasad, Sunil Prasad Singh, Raj Kumar and Gurudev Sahu (Jointly) all from Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai and Shri Ratan Kumar Chakraborty, from Bhilai Steel Plant, Bhilai and Shri Chandrakant Vithalrao Musale from Naval Dockyard, Mumbai and Shri M. Chandrasekhara Reddy from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Hyderabad and S/Smt.
